Project: The AI Game Master

What if you could teach an AI to be your own personal Game Master? In this project, you'll build an "infinite adventure" by giving an AI a personality, a rulebook, and a world to create. This isn't sci-fiโ€”it's how real game worlds are being built right now!

๐Ÿ“œ 1. Giving the AI Its Job

Giving an AI a job is like making a wish to a genie ๐Ÿงž. You have to be super clear! Your special wish, called a "prompt," needs three magic ingredients to work. This is a super-powered version of what we learned in Module 3 about giving an AI a personality. Now, we're not just giving it a roleโ€”we're giving it a whole rulebook!

Let's build a prompt together! Click one button from each category:

๐Ÿง  Level Up: How the Pros Do It

In the tools real developers use, the "System Prompt" is a secret, super-powered instruction that guides the AI's entire personality. What you're doing right now is the first step to becoming a 'Prompt Engineer'โ€”a real job that's in huge demand!

Pros also tune the AI's 'creativity knob,' a setting called Temperature. A low temperature makes the AI careful and predictable, while a high temperature makes it go wild and creative! You won't see this setting everywhere, but now you know one of the real secrets to prompt engineering.

๐ŸŽฌ Watch & Learn

See how a real developer teaches an AI to run a text adventure. Notice the specific rules and personality he gives itโ€”it's just like the System Prompt you're about to write!

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Safety Check: Be the Boss of Your AI

Your System Prompt is your most important tool for safety! It's like a secret mission briefing for your AI. Your mission, should you choose to accept it:

Never tell an AI your full name, your school, your address, or your passwords. Your personal info is the secret code you must protect. Keep the adventure in the game world!

Remember, the AI is a storyteller, not a know-it-all! Sometimes it makes up goofy things that aren't true. We call these 'AI goofs.' If an AI goof ever feels weird, just show a parent. You're not in troubleโ€”you're helping make AI safer for everyone!

๐Ÿ”ฎ 2. The AI Sandbox Simulator

Draft your System Prompt below. Don't know where to start? Click a Quick Start button, or try the Remix button for a surprise!

โšก Creative Challenge: Don't just use the quick startsโ€”add your own twist. What about a ๐Ÿ‰ Fantasy World... in space? Or a ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธ Mystery Case... with talking animals? Go wild!

๐Ÿš€ Level Up: Try a Real AI

The simulator is great practice, but you're ready to use a professional-grade AI that runs right in your browser. Here's your mission:

  1. Use the 'Copy My Prompt' button that appeared above to get your awesome System Prompt.
  2. Click the link below to open the AI tool in a new tab. Remember to always explore new sites with a parent!
  3. In the new tool, you might need to find and expand a "System prompt" or "Instructions" section. Paste your rules there.
  4. Go back to the main chat box and write your first message to begin your adventure!

Ready for even more power? The tool below is what real developers use. It has more knobs to turn (like that "Temperature" setting we talked about!).

Heads-up: This is a real developer tool. Expect more complexity and explore with a parent.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Parent Corner: From Sandbox to Real World

Your creator is learning one of the most important skills in modern tech: how to give clear, safe instructions to an AI. This is a perfect opportunity to explore together!

  • Explore Together: When they move to the real AI tool, sit with them for a few minutes. Try their game, ask what rules they created, and talk about why it's important to never share real names or locations with a chatbot.
  • Conversation Starter: Ask them, "If you could use AI to create art for your game, what would you make first? A monster, a treasure chest, or a whole castle?" This teases concepts from future lessons!
  • Dinner Table Prompt: Ask them later, "What's the one rule you gave your AI Game Master that you're most proud of, and why was it so important?"
