Publish Your Episode

This is what it all was building toward. You're going to plan, film, edit, and publish a real video or podcast episode — not a school project, not a practice run. A real piece of content on the real internet.

Pick one format. Don't try to do both. Pick the one that feels most exciting.

Video Episode

2–5 minute YouTube or Instagram video. Educational, vlog, review, tutorial — whatever matches your channel pitch from Module 1.

Podcast Episode

5–10 minute audio episode — a story, an interview with a friend or family member, or an explainer on something you know well.

Topic Rule
It must be something you genuinely care about. Authentic enthusiasm is impossible to fake — and it's the one thing no algorithm can manufacture.

Phase 1: Pre-Production

Write Your Outline

You don't need to memorize word-for-word. Write the hook sentence, 3–4 main points, and a closing call-to-action. Talk naturally through it.

Set Up Your Shot

Review Module 2. Face your window. Test 10 seconds of audio through headphones. Camera at eye level. Rule of Thirds.

Find Background Music

Go to Pixabay Music and download one royalty-free track that matches your video's tone. Save it for editing.

Phase 2: Production

Record Multiple Takes

Don't aim for one perfect take. Film 2–3 takes of each section. Leave 3 seconds of silence before and after each talking point — it makes editing much easier.

Shoot B-Roll (Video)

B-roll is extra footage you cut to while your voice continues. Even 30 seconds of relevant footage adds variety and breathing room to the edit.

Phase 3: Post-Production

Edit in DaVinci

Follow Module 3's 7-step workflow: rough cut, tighten, music at -18dB, title, color grade, export as H.264 1080p MP4.

Watch Your Edit

Before publishing, watch your finished video all the way through with headphones in. Fix anything that feels wrong. If something makes you wince, cut it.

Phase 4: Publish

Ask a parent before creating any account on a new platform.

Upload your video. Write a description using your channel pitch. You can set it to "Unlisted" (share with family only) or "Public" (the whole internet).

Spotify for Podcasters

Spotify for Podcasters (formerly Anchor) lets you upload audio and publish your podcast for free in minutes.

Share Privately First

Not ready to publish publicly? Upload to Google Drive and share the link with family and friends. Get their feedback and iterate.

Project Completion Checklist

Check off each item as you complete it. Completing all items unlocks your track completion!

Pre-Production: I wrote my hook sentence, outline, and chose my background music.
Lighting check: I tested my setup and confirmed I'm facing the light source.
Audio check: I recorded 10 seconds and listened through headphones — it's clean.
Filmed my episode — at least 2 takes per section, plus B-roll if making a video.
Edited in DaVinci Resolve — rough cut, trimmed pauses, music, title, color corrected.
Exported as H.264 1080p MP4 using the YouTube preset in Deliver.
Watched the finished edit all the way through with headphones — I'm happy with it.
Published or shared it with at least one other person.
